Three acts

The Siam Niramit show consists of three acts.

Act I Civilizations
The first act presents the civilizations of the four regions of Thailand, their culture, traditions and dance.

Act II The three worlds
The second act portrays the three worlds Heaven, Hell and the legendary forest Himmapan. While Heaven is a place of beauty and happiness where angels and Devas fly around, in Hell sinners suffer receiving terrible punishments. In Hindu mythology the Himmapan forest surrounds Mount Meru, the center of the universe.

Act III Thai festivals
The third act tells about Thai festivals.

The best known is Songkran, traditionally the Thai new year celebration, a water festival when people take to the streets splashing water on each other.

During Loy Krathong Thai people make small containers made from banana leaves containing flowers, a candle and incense sticks and let them float on a river, lake or canal.

Also shown in this act important Buddhist events, such as the ordination of young men into monkhood.
