The “Fantasy of a Kingdom” story

“Fantasy of a Kingdom” tells a story about the battle between good and evil. It is a legendary tale about an ancient Kingdom called Kamala. Its inhabitants lived free, happy and in prosperity.

A curse on the Kingdom
When the people lost their goodness and turned greedy and selfish, the guardian spirits put a curse on the Kingdom and turned its ruler the Prince of Kamala and his magical elephant Iyara to stone.

The story tells of the people of the Kingdom realizing the error of their ways and rediscovering virtues as compassion, love and courage. Together they set upon a journey to lift the curse and bring the Prince back to life.

The Prince brought back to life
The tale begins at the Palace of Kamala where the stone statue of the Prince of Kamala riding his elephant Iyara stands. When the people live in harmony again, the spirit of their refound unity brings the statue back to life.

The story continues in the country side and in the jungle of Kamala, where mythological creatures as Apsaras (a celestial nymph) and Kinnaree (a creature half woman, half bird) live.

Good versus evil
The Prince on his journey through the Kingdom witnesses a battle between the forces of evil and Rama, who embodies compassion and virtues. After the battle, goodness has triumphed over evil.
This scene is from the Ramayana, a famous Thai epic.

Love and courage
One day during his travels through the Kingdom the Prince meets a young, graceful country girl and soon their love blossoms.

The girl however is kidnapped by evil demon warriors. The Prince’s army fights the demons at their fortress, but they are outnumbered. The Prince then calls on his elephant Iyara. Terrified by the raging elephant, the demons flee and the Prince is reunited with his love.

Compassion and kindness
The story ends when the Prince returns to his Palace to rule his Kingdom righteously with compassion and kindness.
