Traditional junk ship

The June Bahtra is a traditional junk Chinese sailing ship. Although the wooden ship with large red sails is fitted with engines, the ride is fairly slow but smooth.

Unique feel of a wooden ship

Sailing on the June Bahtra is a unique experience. The creaking sounds of the wooden ship and the sound of the wind in the sails lends a different feel than being on a modern ship.

On the wooden deck are day beds, benches and cushions, sheltered by sun canopy.

Red sails

The most striking feature of the June Bahtra is its large red sails that make it stand out from other ships. With each of its three sails up, the ship makes for a very noticeable sight in the marina and on sea.

Departure from the marina

The June Bahtra ship departs from the Phuket Yacht Haven Marina on the Northeast tip of Phuket. Between the super yachts, modern sailing boats and speed boats, the June Bahtra stands out from the other boats. Around 5 pm the ship sets sail to Koh Lawa Yai island in Phang Nga Bay.

Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay, Northeast of Phuket, is a place known for its beautiful scenery. Scattered around the bay are many small islands with sandy beaches and karst limestone rocks rising from the sea.

At the end of the afternoon the sun sets. Watch the beautiful orange shades of the sun slowly disappearing behind the sea.

Thai buffet dinner

After sunset a delicious Thai buffet dinner is served. On the menu are dishes as steamed fish, chicken with cashew nuts, fried vegetables and spicy shrimp soup (Tom Yum Goong). With the dinner come fresh seasonal fruits and soft drinks. Wine and beer are available at an extra charge.

Back to the marina

Halfway through the dinner cruise the June Bahtra ship turns around and heads back towards Phuket. At around 8 pm the ship arrives back at the marina.
