Aquaria Phuket

Opened in 2019, Aquaria Phuket is the largest sea aquarium in Thailand. Housed in huge tanks are thousands of fish like sharks, stingrays, groupers, seahorses and jellyfish. Aquaria also houses reptiles, insects and animals as penguins and otters. There are daily animal feeding shows and a mermaid show, fun to watch for both adults and children.

Spacious and clean, Aquaria is located in Central Floresta, a large shopping mall in Phuket Town. There is a gift shop at the exit.

Adjacent to Aquaria is an augmented reality Trickeye Museum.

You can get tickets for the aquarium only or include the Trickeye Museum.

Tens of thousands of fish

With over 50,000 fish and other species of aquatic animals, Aquaria houses a wide variety of marine life in huge tanks. Informative screens in English beside the exhibits give information about the various species.

Fish species

The aquarium houses both fresh water and sea water fish. In the huge tanks you can see among others large groupers, carps, sturgeons, stingrays and shark species as leopard shark and zebra shark.

Among the giant fresh water fish are the Arapaima, one of the world’s largest fresh water fish that lives in the Amazon river in South America.

Other animals

You will also see other amphibian animals like frogs, toads and salamanders as well as reptiles as turtles, lizards and snakes as well as penguins and otters.

Walk under the sea

Get the feel of being on the bottom of the sea walking through a glass tunnel surrounded by water inhabited with thousands of fish. Watch the fish like groupers, sharks and stingrays and thousands of smaller colorful fish swimming overhead.

Four areas

Aquaria is divided in four areas namely the Mystic Forest, Coastal Haven, South China Sea and Station Aquarius.

Mystic Forest
At the River Giants Zone you will meet the largest fish that live in the world’s rivers like Arapaima, Mekong rays and Mekong giant catfish.
The Jewel of the Jungle Zone is an area that has the feel of a forest with the sounds of birds. Here live insects, frogs, lizards and snakes.
The River Cave is the home of very lively and playful otters.

Coastal Haven
An area with species of salt water fish. At the Coastal Haven Humboldt Penguin zone you will get to see the Humboldt penguin, a fairly small species of penguin native to Chili in South America.

South China Sea
The South China Sea area has the largest sea water tank in Thailand. In it live thousands of fish like sharks, stingrays, large groupers, turtles and schools of smaller, colorful fish.

Submerged in the tank are statues from Thai mythology and a sunken submarine.

Station Aquarius
This area houses jelly fish and species of sea shells. At the Touch Pool children can get up close to animals as starfish and touch them.

Preserving nature

The Canopy Walk is named after the forest canopy that shelters the animals and plants below it. Here visitors can learn about the importance of preserving forests and what can be done to halt deforestation. Education panels detail the effects of human actions on the ecosystem.

Mermaid show

Timings for the Mermaid show are:

Tuesday through Friday
In the Coastal Haven zone at 15:30.

Saturday and Sunday
In the South China Sea zone at 14:30 and 15:30.

Food & drinks

Food, snacks, drinks and ice cream are available in Aquaria. Bringing in food and drink from outside is not allowed.

Underwater dining

A unique experience is to have dinner in the Andasi underwater restaurant in the main tank. Enjoy delicious food while fish as groupers, stingrays and sharks swim by.
The Andasi restaurant opens from 7 pm until 10 pm.

Research center

Attached to Aquaria Phuket is a research center and breeding facility that works in cooperation with Chulalongkorn University.

AR Trickeye Museum

Adjacent to Aquaria is an augmented reality Trickeye Museum, Phuket’s first interactive 4D museum, a fun place to experience the world of optical illusions and trickery. Download the app on your phone and create a movie featuring yourself in the art that comes to life.

The museum is divided in several zones.
Experience huge waves and sea dragons in zone Aquarium, become a part of famous paintings at Zone Masterpiece, get the scare of your life when huge monsters pop up ready to attack at Zone Jungle.

Location

Aquaria Phuket is located at B1 floor Central Phuket Floresta, a large modern shopping center in Phuket Town. It’s about 13 kilometers from Patong Beach.

Next to Central Phuket Floresta is Tribhum Adventure Park.

How to get there

The easiest way to get there from one of the beaches is by Grab taxi or tuk tuk.

Opening hours

Aquaria Phuket opens daily from 10:30 am until 8 pm. Last admission is at 7 pm.
