A sea of flowers

Pak Khlong Talat looks like a sea of beautiful and colorful flowers. Surrounded by scents and fragrances, the market is a picturesque place to take a stroll.

Flower species

Among the exotic flowers sold at Pak Khlong Talat are jasmine, roses, chrysanthemums, lilies, yellow marigolds and many species of orchids in different colors.

Most flowers come from nearby provinces Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram, where they are also sold at floating markets like Tha Kha. Others that need a cooler climate are grown in the mountainous and cooler area around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

Walking around the narrow lanes you can watch people cutting and arranging flowers and making flower garlands.

Flower garlands

When you walk through the narrow lanes you will often see people making flower garlands. Flower garlands are given as offerings at Buddhist temples, spirit houses and shrines. At traffic lights vendors sell them to drivers, who hang them down from the rear view mirror of their car.
