Ong Bak story

The story starts in Ban Nong Pradu, a small village in rural Thailand when the head of a Buddha image named Ong Bak is stolen. None of the villagers knows who stole the Buddha head, all they know is that a man called Don from Bangkok tried to buy the head the day before it was stolen.

Ting, a very skilled Muay Thai fighter
One of the villagers named Ting, a very skilled Muay Thai fighter, volunteers to go to Bangkok to get the head back. After arriving in Bangkok, Ting soon finds out that Don is a drug dealer who is a member of a mafia gang involved in many illegal activities.

Ting wins a fighting tournament
Ting decides to turn to his cousin Humlae for help. However, Humlae and his friend Muay Lek, both petty criminals, steal Ting’s money and loose it all in a bet in an illegal fighting tournament. After Ting defeats the local champion with a single kick, he wins his money back.

Ting then finds out that Don is the one who stole the Buddha head to sell it to Komtuan, a local mafia boss. Komtuan however, is not interested, and orders Don to get rid of it.

Gang members get defeated
The next day Humlae and Muay Lek try to rip off card players at an illegal casino. When they are made out, they flee and are chased across Bangkok by a drug trafficker named Peng and his gang. Ting defeats most of the gang members helping Humlae and Muay Lek to escape, who in return promise to help Ting find Don.

Tuk tuk chase across Bangkok
Ting, Humlae and Muay Lek manage to find the place where Don is hiding. Don flees by tuk tuk, pursued by the three men who give chase in another tuk tuk. When the chase ends, the three men find the place where Komtuan has hidden stolen Buddha images, an underwater stash in the Chao Phraya river. The images are recovered by the police.

Ting has to throw the fight
Komtuan reacts by having his men kidnap Muay Lek. Ting is told to fight Komtuan’s bodyguard to get Muay Lek and the Ong Bak Buddha head back. Ting has no choice but to throw the fight. Komtuan does hot hold up his end of the deal though and instead orders all three men to be killed.

The Ong Bak head saved
Ting and Humlae are able to defeat the gang members and head to a cave in a mountain, where Ting is shot by Komtuan. When Komtuan tries to destroy the Ong Bak head with a huge hammer, Humlae jumps in to protect it. The head falls killing both Komtuan and Humlae.

Ting brings the Ong Bak head back to the village
The story ends when Ting returns to his village bringing home the Ong Bak Buddha head and being ordained a monk in the temple.
