Roi Et province in Northeastern Thailand, although not one of Thailand’s most visited provinces, has a number of magnificent temples, one of them being the Wat Klang Ming Muang. You will find this temple in the centre of Roi Et city, located on a small hill.

Very old temple

The Wat Klang Ming Muang is a very old temple, and although its age is not exactly known, it is believed that is was built before the foundation of the city of Roi Et.

Murals in the ordination hall

The ubosot or ordination hall is over two centuries old dating from the end of the Ayutthaya era. The walls of the ubosot contain beautiful murals showing scenes from the life of the Buddha.

Another building in the Wat Klang Ming Muang temple complex is a wonderfully decorated tower like structure.

Highly revered

The temple is highly revered in Rot Et province and is visited by many people who come here to make merit and pay their respects to the Buddha.

In the past the Wat Klang Ming Muang Temple was used for ceremonies where people swore their loyalty to the King. Now it is being used as a Buddhist school where monks learn about the Dharma, the teachings of the Buddha.

How to get to Wat Klang Ming Muang

The temple is located on Charoen Phanit road in the center of Roi Et town. Get there by tuk tuk or taxi.

Wat Klang Ming Muang opens daily from 6 am until 5 pm.
