At Flight of the Gibbon in Chiang Mai you can enjoy a zipline course with 15 ziplines, abseiling, rope bridges and jungle trails.

Great fun for young and old, the zipline adventure is a thrilling experience in the middle of the beautiful surroundings of the tropical rain forest. Spend a few exhilarating hours swinging from tree to tree in the wilderness and feel your adrenaline going.

Feel like Tarzan

Feel like Tarzan flying from tree top to tree top, abseiling vertically from tall trees and walking the rope bridges high above the forest floor.

Tropical rain forest

The zipline course takes you through a tropical rain forest with a rich flora and fauna. The forest is inhabited by animals as colorful birds and gibbons.

Wild Gibbons

During the ziplining there is a chance you will see white handed gibbons. A group of them live in the forest close to the zipline course. Their colors vary from creamy to black. Particularly in the early morning hours their loud calls sound through the jungle.

Two guides

Every group is accompanied by two instructors to ensure everyone’s safety. One guide will clip you on to the zipline and send you off. The other one waits at the next platform to bring you in and unclip you.

Briefing

After a safety briefing, the experience starts off with a walk through the forest to the first zipline. During the ten minutes walk the guide will explain about the ecology of the rain forest and various plants and animals that live there.

Course of ziplines, rope bridges & abseiling

Flight of the Gibbon consists of a course of ziplines, abseiling from the trees and rope bridges high above the jungle floor. There are 15 ziplines of various lengths and speeds, the longest flight measuring 800 meters. Great fun for adults as well as kids, the course takes between two to three hours to complete.

Take a mobile phone or GoPro camera to capture yourself flying from tree to tree.

Hike to the waterfall

After completing the zipline course you can take a short hike to a nearby waterfall or relax at the café with a drink and snacks.

Safety

Flight of the Gibbon follows international safety standards. Guides will provide safety instructions with demonstrations of the equipment and will clip you on to the ziplines. Every zipliner wears a full body harness and a helmet.

Flight of the Gibbon Chiang Mai is certified by the ACCT (Association for Challenge Course Technology).

Conditions

A little bit of physical fitness is enough to complete the zipline course. If you can do a 10 minute walk in the jungle, you’re good to go.

For safety reasons, zip liners should be at least one meter tall. There is a weight limit of 125 kilo. Pregnant women cannot do the course.

Wear loose fitting clothes, no flip flops.

Mae Kampong village

Flight of the Gibbon is near the village of Mae Kampong. On the way there traveling steep and windy roads enjoy picturesque views of the valley, the wooden houses on the steep hills, the village of Mae Kampong and the pristine rain forest.

Location and how to get there

Flight of the Gibbon is located near Mae Kampong village about a one hour drive from Chiang Mai city. Round trip transfer is included in the price.

Opening hours & pick up times

Flight of the Gibbon opens 7 days a week.
Included in the package are round trip transfer by air conditioned van from Chiang Mai city hotel and Thai lunch.

Pick up from Chiang Mai city hotel is at 06:30, 08:00, 09:00 or 12:30.

Total duration is about 7 hours including transfer times.
